What a night!!!!

Thanks to all the whanau and tamariki that helped out to make our Gala Night such a success.

I enjoyed seeing all you excited faces, running around and having fun. It was awesome to see students giving new things a go even some of the teachers were giving things a go. Well done to Ms Trow for taking one for the team and being selected as the teacher to get slimmed. We can’t believe you raised that much money. Ka Pai.

The teachers had a beach/ Summer theme for our costumes for the Gala Night. We thought that it would be great for the kids to use the blow up donuts that we had for our costumes, in the swimming pool on Friday. They had a blast check out the photos of the children pulling each other and trying to get themselves to the other side of he pool without touching the bottom.

Check out our pics below.

Swimming Galore

With Swimming Sports heats finished, we have been practicing our survival swimming techniques with the help from Wendy at Swimsafe.

We have learnt how to scull and float on the top of the water, swimming in rough water and breathing properly when swimming. The children used flutter-boards to push the water back and forth to create rough water so that we could learn how to swim through rough water. The children found it difficult to breath when swimming on the top of the water but as they kept swimming they realised swimming under the rough water and holding their breath worked better.

I am so proud of Room 3 and the tuī syndicate on their amazing improvement with their confidence and survival swimming skills. Keep up the hard work Tuī kids.

Heres some pics of our swimming.
